The name itself means ‘Abode of Clouds’, and true to its name, it is where clouds make their homes. The hill state is frequented by nature lovers and honeymooners. The best time to visit Meghalaya is between the months of October to April. Blessed with moderate climate all through the year, every season you have a reason to visit.

This itinerary allows you to cover the much visited destinations of Shillong –Cherrapunjee alonwith DAWKI where one side of the Umngot river is India & other side Bangladesh.

SHILLONG, capital of Meghalaya, is the home to numerous waterfalls and vast natural beauty.

Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, is a high-altitude town in the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. It’s known for its living root bridges, made from rubber trees.

Living Root Bridges !!!

Meghalaya’s double-decker and single-decker root bridges are unique in the world and are a sight to behold. The bridges are tangles of massive thick roots, which have been intermingled to form a bridge that can hold several people at a time.

Water of the Umngot River is very clean and become Crystal clear in winters.It is also known as the Transparent lake.

Dawki is the only place where there is a road route connecting to Bangladesh !! A small market area in Dawki has been set up which allows people at both borders to share business connections

GUWAHATI – SHILLONG

Arrive Guwahati Airport / Railway Station……..your tour begins in the beautiful North East!!!! Our local office representative shall meet & greet you @ airport/ station & you shall be transferred to Shillong. Enroute visit UMIUM LAKE - more popularly known as Barapani, this is the biggest artificial lake in the State. Surrounded by sylvan hills and wrapped in the beauty of an assortment of green Khasi-pines and the azure blue skies is the majestic Umiam Lake. Developed upon the reservoir of the Umiam Hydro Electric Project, the Water Sports Complex provides a choice of row-boats, paddle-boats, cruise boats, sailing boats, water scooters and speed boats. On can enjoy water sports activities here (Optional cost). Later on arrival in Shillong, check into the hotel. Overnight stay at Shillong

SHILLONG - DAWKI

Morning after breakfast, proceed to DAWKI, International trade route border town of Dawki is a splendid drive of 95 kilometres passing through deep gorges and ravines, which is certainly a thrilling experience. On approaching Dawki is the Umngot River, the venue of the annual boat race held during March - April at Umsyiem. The Umngot River is the natural boundary between Ri Pnar or Jaintia Hills with Hima Khyrim of Khasi hills over which is a single span suspension bridge was constructed. This is the gateway to Bangladesh where major export and import transactions take place. The Umngot river also has a bridge known as Dawki Bridge, a suspension bridge over the river build by Britishers. On arrival check in- to the camp , Bar-b-q at night and of course camping out in tents .Overnight stay at Dawki.

DAWKI SIGHTSEEING

In morning we start our adventure trekking through lush green forest which is about 2 hours to Dawki and our campsite. Once at the site lunch will be served at the camp site. After a nice lunch we begin with the rest of the adventure activities. By evening we stop all activity and head back to camp site. Dinner will be served with a nice campfire.

DAWKI - CHERRAPUNJEE

Early morning after breakfast, Check out & Proceed to Cherrapunjee on arrival check in later proceed for CHERRAPUNJEE, blessed with many breathtaking views of nature in her pristine beauty with cool springs, mind soothing waves of thick green jungle foliage, gurgling mountain streams finding their way through rocks, enthralling milky white waterfalls leaping into deep gorges in a thunderous applause to the record-breaking rainfall that resounds through the valley. Cherrapunjee has the distinction of being the wettest place on Earth, having the highest recorded rainfall, year after year. Diverse your route to visit the Asia’s Cleanest Village MAWLYNNONG – Located in the East Khasi hills, this village is known for its ‘Cleanliness’ & it’s a community based eco-tourism initiative! The village offers picturesque natural beauty, a short trek to the LIVING ROOT BRIDGE at a neighbouring village Riwai. The village also offers a sight of natural balancing rock, a strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock! Later continue your journey to Cherrapunjee.On arrival check-in to the hotel. Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee.

CHERRAPUNJEE SIGHTSEEING

Morning after breakfast full day sightseeing Sevensisters Falls, Nohkalifall Falls & Mawsanmai caves. Man made Coal Mine Later back to hotel. Overnight stay at Shillong.

CHERRAPUNJEE - SHILLONG

Morning after breakfast drive to Shillong. Enroute visit Ward’s Lake is popular for short garden walks & boating. The Botanical Garden offers plethora of indigenous and exotic plants & rare collection of orchids. Butterfly Museum is a storehouse of finest and rarest species of butterflies and moths. Lady Hydari Park is a Japanese style landscaped park endowed with streaches of roses & exquisite flowers. The Mini zoo adjacent to the park has about 73 birds, 140 reptiles & mammals. One of the largest Golf courses in Asia is an 18 hole Golf Course is charted amidst a surging valley full of thick pine groves & rhododendron trees. Spend the evening in the splendid arena ! The State Museum is a display of the lifestyle and heritage of the people of Meghalaya. Shillong and its surrounding is dotted with splendid waterfalls cascading down deep valleys forming misty sparks as they break the silence of the surroundings. Elephant Falls is a mountain stream gorging down two successive falls set in dells of fern covered rocks. Overnight at Shillong.

After breakfast transfer to Guwahati airport / Railway station for onward destination.
